I'd love to post more! I think i'd want to have content for a longer time horizon than a week to get a solid thing going though. Let's chat for sure! Npub in bio.
how would you do this in other systems?
this isn't about auditing the version, but the dependency graph where the package occurs. afaik this isn't possible in other linux systems without even more complex queries.
Yea as posted https://github.com/fort-nix/nix-bitcoin is what you want.
You'll need machine you've set up nixOS on first, which is a bit involved setup but then you only have to do it once.
Then 'running the node' just means modifying the config on your local machine and running 'deploy' to update your node machine. Its slick af.
Reading Pieter Hintjens' "Culture and Empire" , and its without a doubt one of the best things i've ever read. Software, economics, geopolitics, freedom, its all there.
Avaliable to read online here: https://hintjens.gitbooks.io/culture-empire/content/

The model would be write to one relay, like sending to an email addr. Cant guarantee someone wont send an email to multiple addrs by mistake so it seems equivalent.
If you're looking to try out the Nix package manager, you can safely use it alongside your existing package manager, on mac, linux or windows, and slowly get used to it as needed.
If you're looking to use NixOS as your OS, that's a big jump. One method I recommend to dip your toes is to run the OS in a VM. If you use a Mac, Mitchell Hashimoto published his setup and guide to do so (link) . There are a variety of Linux guides elsewhere to do this too. glhf :)
check this for size...
Uranus, beyond the sky
Neptune, beyond/below the sea
Pluto/Hades, below the earth
Three planets the Greeks couldn't see, identified with forces beyond the immediate human realm.
thanks! Just caught up on your summaries of Eliade's book, excellent work. Eager to read it myself.
Read Jung's Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious recently, def see how it rang some bells :)
