My original thought was this. If you go with Jefferson's idea, why would you then expect the world to use dollar if you are not doing anything for the world.

ok, just curious though. if the world's main currency is dollar which can be printed on demand, who else should dispense the aid? US needs to keep the world happy, so USD is being used globally, so this is part of the package.
Also, don't you think that there is money to be made in Ukraine when the war is over? Who do you think is going to have first dibs other than US?

I see it as a good thing and a decision that was way overdo. Putin started the war, so why couldn't Ukraine properly defend itself? Biden should have allowed this a long time ago. North Korea was told to stay out of it and they did not, so it is a justified reaction.
Putin will not start nuclear war. He is just a bully with no balls to back it up. Nato should just force him back to his cave.

it could very well be as you say. even though he did try to take kiev in the first days of war.
that still does not give him right to wage war over non-russian territory.

Exactly, he has been talking about it, but no action at all. If he really cared, he'd already done something even if he is not the president since he has influence over the republican party. It will be really interesting what will happen next, either he will throw Ukraine under the bus which is likely imho (which is basically not supporting it) or perhaps he has a brilliant idea how to keep the aggressor on their side of the border which would of course be the best.
