I have not tried that yet. Appreciate the suggestion.
Exploring what a sign up form could look like for a browser extension.
Since it is possible people will have more than one nostr profile, for personal and perhaps business or projects, it would be positive to be able to house more than one profile in an extension. If that were the case, they'd need to be easily distinguishable, showing name and, if possible, profile image.
Other possible features:
- Copy npub
- Share link to profile
- Not confusing npubs and nsecs by keeping secret keys in a separate page, or at the end of the page in a separate section.
Logging in to Nostr means having the ability to access multiple clients, but that also means figuring out which login type is supported. I don't know if it's technically feasible, but it would be nice to have an extension that could house both a bunker and an nsec, and other types of possible ways to login that may exist in the future.
Nostr, by its nature, will have more options than platforms. It becomes important to find ways of simplifying the process. In this case, a drop down button can help reduce the visual noise of seeing multiple options at the start.
It would also be a nice addition to have a button that leads to an explainer page with a compare and contrast of various options.
Login and sign up pages may seem simple but a designer could spend several days on daily challenges tackling different aspects of these forms. I picture them like doors to spaces yet to explore. You may not know exactly what you'll discover once you enter, but their design can carry a spark of personality, enticing the viewer to log in.
