Strike will provide an account and routing number for you to send direct deposits to. I use it and it works great for me.
I work for fiat, but I have a portion of my paycheck going to my Strike account, with which I can immediately purchase bitcoin whenever I want. You could send your entire paycheck to it if you wanted.
I don't remember exactly, but I think you can choose to have the deposit be immediately converted without intervention if you want.
It's still getting paid/denominated in fiat, but it's a great first step since I haven't looked for ways to earn a bitcoin denominated salary. Frankly given the volatility though, there's still obvious difficulties doing that for both parties. But we're on our way :)
Agreed. IMO we're ill-equipped for the amount of information we have in front of us, and it seems to make us likely to neglect our human needs.
If in doubt, make friends and learn to trust. It's more than worth the risk, it's necessary to stay healthy. Surround yourself with people who will be honest with you, especially when you don't want to hear it. Value them for that, and return the favor.
We glorify distributed, decentralized systems. Don't forget what that looks like offline, nor its importance.
It's worth noting a comment on HN points out that the article source is comments during a meeting from a government official.
Looking through the first source, it's not at all clear that this is policy. In fact, that meeting from April 2023 seems to indicate that current copyright protection is insufficient for AI, and new regulation is required.
The second source at the bottom of the article doesn't work for me currently.
Anyone fluent in Japanese would be a welcome commenter here.
Graphene does the typical extra privileged access that Android grants to Google's apps, and has a 'compatibility layer' that keeps almost all of the functionality despite not having the privileged access. You'd have to get deep into the weeds to make a detailed assessment, but I run Discord/Spotify and others in a separate profile with Google apps.
Compartmentalizing feels pretty similar to what you might do with browsing/VPNs/Tor.
