I like the transparency of seeing who else might be working on a bounty.
Just brainstorming:
Maybe a user pledges Sats to Claim the right to work on bounty. Highest bidder is awarded the status of Claimed. Once completed they receive bounty plus sats pledged.
If they don’t complete the bounty they lose sats and Claim goes to second highest bid.
Users would bid high on bounties they are confident that match skills and can complete.
This is valid concern. Bounties might need to have an additional status to avoid multiple people working on the same bounty. Might suggest:
-
Open: active bounty waiting for a user to claim
-
Claimed: user informs @k00b that he will complete bounty in X days. If not completed in timeframe then status reverts back to Open.
-
Paid
Just pledged sats to this post to help with the bounty.
This will be a great improvement to the UI for SN!
100% Zaps.
- associates with lightning
- quick burst of energy universally understood
- readily adopted term on nostr seems to signal popularity
Awesome! I think many stackers (self included) might be willing to help fund bounties to increase feature set on SN.
Could the refining process also be added as a separate bounty?
Just trying to brainstorm ways to make your job easier while letting stackers powered with sats do some of the building.
What is the most difficult part of integrating features built by others using bounties?
Seems like a fast and effective tool to add new features and have them paid for by stackers.
I'm assuming that Fidelity won't let you withdraw to your own wallet yet. Has anyone heard if they have plans to allow for self custody soon?
Great option! Maybe set a limit of when 5000 sats is reached auto withdraw. You want to keep some sats on SN just for ease of posting and tipping.

Thanks for your thoughts! Agree BTC should always be the base layer but it will be interesting to see what is built on top. I think it will exceed our current imagination.
Curious your thoughts about Stacks (STX) and if you see any value for tokens built on top of bitcoin that allow for more scripting?
Great interview with Natalie Brunell today on Fox. She articulates Bitcoin values to the general public very well. I really like that she is consistent is saying Bitcoin and not crypto when talking to MSM.
What criteria does Spiral use to decide which projects should receive a grant? or how are grant projects prioritized?
@TheBTCManual Could you elaborate a little more on how your comment “able to verify everything with an Lsat so you SN profile can be linked to Twitter”
Thanks
If many new users are migrating from Twitter and using the Twitter auth this might pose some challenges since their Twitter nym will have to be different than their SN nym if already taken.
Bitclout requested users Tweet a confirmation code which allowed you to claim the Bitclout account.
Having consistent account names between Twitter and SN would be really convenient and make it easier to pull users away from Twitter imho.
Could you tweet the following on Twitter to confirm your identify:
"Confirmed I just joined Stacker News as: @stephanlivera "
