Give it a try!
^^ It got the early onboarding problem, as usual for these kinds of things, before the networking effect reached enough critical mass.
Best early use cases I can come to think of is:
*Journalism
*Family chats
*Telegram replacement
Not needing to exchange personal contact info is great, and profiles within the app makes it safe to publicly share contact info without fear of spamming. Here I created a contact link for sharing on stacker news: https://simplex.chat/contact#/?v=1-2&smp=smp%3A%2F%2FenEkec4hlR3UtKx2NMpOUK_K4ZuDxjWBO1d9Y4YXVaA%3D%40smp14.simplex.im%2FvO9SwJHDbMb5lq-XPhMLFkH90Vf_F3_d%23%2F%3Fv%3D1-2%26dh%3DMCowBQYDK2VuAyEA15UhLUQOh2PRlLqT13PuG-aZtch6NUcSh56W-S46Q3c%253D%26srv%3Daspkyu2sopsnizbyfabtsicikr2s4r3ti35jogbcekhm3fsoeyjvgrid.onion
The long links I think look a bit scary to normies, but it is what it is. If I want to have another share link for another context, I can fix that within the app without dealing with new account registrations etc.
Great post. I would add https://simplex.chat/ to the list. It's good with chat alternatives that don't require government influenced sim card numbers. Especially for Journalists
Yes, I'm very fond of the LBRY project as well. They got something going there. They are actually a Bitcoin fork, and they use the blockchain to store content addresses and stake content.
Their idea is good, but having left the BTC ecosystem is a weakness. If the Drivechain people get their way; (haven't formed an opinion on if good or not) then it could be replicated on a Bitcoin sidechain.
People probably don't know what to recommend just yet xD
The nostr.wine is a pretty nice addition to the standard offered by most apps. Their LN fee system is an interesting solution, and I suspect more relays like this will come.

Each extra relay adds redundancy protection of your data, as well as effects what you see and who you reach. Interesting relays => more interesting feed :)

Luckily, he was reaching for freedom ^^
If interested and had the time, I would put some study into historical changes of monetary systems. We recognize many of them as disasters combined with terrible inflation. But this hasn't always been the case. Some examples I can think of here and now:
*The change from barter trading to gold as cash
*The change from gold cash to banknote gold derivatives
*The change from banknotes to the Federal US dollar
*The goldbacked US dollar to the fiat debt backed dollar
*The EU countries changing their local currencies to the common Euro
And of course the disastrous hypder-dyper inflation crashes of the Zimbabwe dollar, the Deutsch Mark etc.
The bullet point examples, I think, however, show that some drastic changes can also occur without immediate/obvious societal crashes. Which is a good thing. And possibly a government fiat currency could do a soft change into Bitcoin as well. We just don't know until we have seen it, but maybe historical studies of the most similar thing might teach us something?
It's an interesting discussion to have :)
