That is pretty smart. The way pruned nodes work now would need more cpu power and storage requirements then.
I can't say much about the compressions, it's been a long time since I read up on the topic
By this logic we will never ever get what we want.
And this is exactly why first-past-the-post sucks and what's great about ranked-choice-voting
I think the idea is awesome but they're all shit. The kyc-free ones aren't kyc-free because they want your phone number and/or security cam pictures. Also high fees. Overall just disappointing.
these supposedly trustless and immutable protocols reneged on their promises like paying you back x amount whenever you want, etc. Many protocols changed their rules during the years I was not paying attention and some would not let me withdraw the full amount anymore
That's kinda funny. Sorry, I don't want to be mean to you and am sorry for you. But it is kinda funny to me that they talked themselves so deep into it and developed this yes-sayer culture until the fundamentals don't even hold anymore.
even if you have the skill to audit a contract, you rarely have the time and you could also miss something. So basically, I call this whole open smart contract trust model bullshit because the reality is that you can hide everything in these contracts and no one is checking.
They just build a jenga tower of software that nobody wants or can maintain. There isn't even a second wallet that people use. And a lot of project build for nobody. There is a mini-documentary by Folding Ideas about the metaverse stuff and even during the pinacle of their hype the actual metaverse was used by a few dozen people worldwide. A dead mall as he called it. It's hilarious.
I was running Tails on my mini PC (which is normally used as a full Bitcoin node, plus a couple of self-hosted services). Most of the time it runs headless, but it's connected to a smart TV via HDMI. And I realized the TV itself had an ethernet cable plugged in.
It's called Paranoia
I wonder if this payment concept/application idea I have can just be built onto or into the BTCpay Server code?
I mean - it just seems like a no brainer.... BTCpay Server has already probably done over half the work with their code...this could be like an add-on or hell even an upgrade to their existing stack... it seems like a natural fit....I think....not that the smart folks there need something else to work on, but hell....it makes sense to me.
This gets a little further that what you want to do ... but every time I think about BTCpay Server and integrating it into business models ... I just can't help but think a lot of people should be able to get by without BTCpay Server. Idk how. But somehow a lightning wallet and a bolt-12 qr code should be enough. But it's always more tricky in practice in the end.
My assumption is that a lot of territories aren't held because the people want to profit of it. They're held to
- call dibs on attractive territory names as a long shot. Just like domains in the beginning of the web.
- as a charity/donation to the community. By people who want to support SN.
I don't think fiat collapses. It will fizzle out slowly slowly over a long time frame.
Also I don't think people have to pay attention to Egypt. Egypt is certainly a beautiful country, rich history etc but it's just not relevant. In 2011 there was a revolution there and economically it just doesn't matter.
Different for Japan. But I think most people don't think anything will change even if the currency dies. People will take the hit, people might suffer but in the morning they will still go to the Toyota factory assembly line. Nothing ever happens.
Anecdotally: men are easier to waste their savings on useless consumer crap.
If a hobby includes buying expensive shiny stuff it's way more likely to be male dominated. Cars be it oldtimers or sports cars or tinkering: all men. Life savings into espresso machines: all men. The audiophiles subreddit: all men. Stock market options gambling: all men. Building PCs and stuff: male dominated. Scuba diving or a pilot license: mostly men. etc etc
That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing.
Currently the industry is flooded with funding and data is way more valuable than money. Therefore there are many free services like lmsys (my favorite), bing, chatgpt website/app, talkai, googles gemini website, many social media apps.
If you don't want to give away your data you can just run mistral or llama locally.
Well, what's you plan for off loading from mainnet? Lightning can handle a tremendous number of offchain transactions. Offloading the channel openings/closings even further there is no serious idea/plan for that, is there?
