Thank you for your generosity.

Are you making your way up the rankings?
reply
Not really. Highest this account got to was 85. 96 now. It will probably jump back into the 80s today and then fall back next week after I don't post, zap or comment for a few days.

Assuming I'm still in it, time to go with my Mets.
reply
You just need the Guardians to win one game against the A's. A Stacker News team (as long as CJ Wilson pitches for us) could beat the A's in one out of 3. Ok maybe not but you get my point. Mets it is.
reply
True -- I'm just reluctant to get overconfident.

Astros Yankees Tigers
This week's pick: Guardians
reply
Who the hell are the Guardians?
reply
I came close to making a serious faux pas.
reply
I almost got you?
reply
Nope. I almost did it on my own in making my pick. I had to do some last second editing.

They used to be the Indians but then the team relocated to Mumbai to become a cricket team (who Siggy hates by the way) so it seems MLB gave them a new franchise last year and for some reason they named it after some Marvel characters.
I need to consult with our cricket historian @Coinsreporter. Is this correct?
reply
You're right. They used to be Indians until 2021.
But, they did not relocate to Mumbai as Mumbai has had Indians since 2008 - the first ever IPL.
The Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians) thought that with 'Indians' they are actually making Cricket popular and it can be disastrous for the future of Baseball, so they abandoned it at once. Fear of Cricket was the reason in fact.
Now, they have another reason to fear because there's a cricket world cup in June this year. It will be co-hosted by USA. Grand Priere, Nassau and Central Boward Regional Park will host the matches. Grand Priere being the neighbouring Ground to the Guardians, I'm pretty sure they will have to listen the roar from the deafening India vs Pakistan match on June 9.
Here's the full schedule and tickets counter.

Great answer.
reply
That's fascinating. I would have thought Indians had been in Mumbai for more than 16 years.
reply
Wow! What an adventure.
Wait. Is cricket just the MLB's relegation system?
reply
reply
No, in fact MLB is is the relegation of Cricket based on history.
Crickets known history dates back to 13th century while Baseball's is hardly 3 centuries old. Only came to be known in 18th century.
reply
Ok, but it doesn't sound like cricket teams ever fail their way into the MLB.
reply
Never.
In case you wanna know why I suggest you to be in New York on June 9 or just type cricket in your search you will find.
India vs Pakistan match is the pinnacle of viewership. It actually surpasses more than a 2 billion people watching it around the world.
reply
Woah! That's like ten thousand Super Bowls.
Quick like a cat. Guardians are playing well right now. Let's see if they can keep it up for another week. Pick noted.
