The international Paso Cristo Redentor (also known as the Christ the Redeemer Tunnel), is the main route between the Andes, the region of Valparaíso (Chile), and the province of Mendoza (Argentina), in addition to allowing the passage of heavy vehicles between the two countries. On the Argentine side, the access route has a slight incline until it finally enters a tunnel that is located at 3500 m.s.l., the Chilean side has a large number of curves to save the steep slope.
