Kefren was the son of Keops (or Khufu in Egyptian), although not his firstborn nor his direct successor. Thanks to some inscriptions, we know that Keops was his son Didufri. The Pyramid of Kefren, 136 meters high, is the second tallest pyramid in Giza. Construction ended around 2570 BC and, when observed, it appears to be larger than the Great Pyramid, as it was built on higher ground. Unlike its sister buildings, its top retains the original polished limestone coating, and its surroundings are decorated with several statues of Kefren, a temple and another great attraction, the Great Sphinx.
