In just a few hours the military parade is set to kick off in DC to celebrate the Army's 250th birthday. A lot of people have been quick to compare this to Russia and North Korea but they ignore a pretty critical issue.... France, the UK, and South Korea all have them. The US also has a history of having them as well to mark significant events and I think the 250th birthday of the Army is a pretty significant date.

A lot has been done to try and protect everyone at the events at the National Mall today. Including the installation of fencing and the reason for this is two fold. One its just standard no matter the events because they are a target of a lone wolf attack and this leads into my next point that Iran and Israel are currently at war and the US has helped protect Israeli skies so there is an increased threat due to this event.

Just yesterday there was an innocent at the Capitol that was not widely reported outside of DC. Protesters pushed through bicycle fencing and rushed the Capitol Step to the Rotunda. People got hurt two ambulances had to come and 60 people were arrested.

There is also a wild and sickening amount of misinformation and fear tactics being spread. People have been posting on X and TikTok that the fencing for the event is to more or less create kill zones to crush the protests. It’s sad that people are so caught up in hating one person that they ignore the celebration that allowed for this nation to form.

The protest groups thus far in DC have been pretty small numbering in the 100s but as it gets closer to parade time I could see the whole thing swelling. Especially once the fireworks start. If you want to watch the parade that starts at 6:30 eastern it will be streamed on X and YouTube via the US Army’s official pages and multiple television stations have said they will also have it on or cover it.

IMO the spice going into this is a little underwhelming, business as usual yesterday after the Iran go-hot... the assassination this morning is very sad and alarming, but, also seems isolated and like its not going to control the news cycle.

Was kind of hoping the Army would set up replica gallows at Fort McNair for this, just to troll

I'll keep popcorn on standby in any case, we're due for a fresh news cycle by Monday

The person that they are hunting for that has been identified as the assassin makes the story like you said much more likely to disappear.... guy that was a Former Appointee of Gov. Waltz turned Private Security and had those No Kings flyers.... Also looking at the votes these two recently cast that prevented illegals from having access to free healthcare makes it more likely the left wants to bury it sadly.

A lot of people on X that were posting this was Trump and MAGAs fault have been erasing the tweets since the background on this guy has come out. It seems heavily likely he wasnt a MAGA die hard and that doesnt fit the narrative.

I do think the whole oil market is going to be a wild wild thing to watch as both Israel and Iran oil and gas infrastructure is burning atm

one known-spook was suggesting hitting Iran now is to constrain China's oil supply... public numbers imply its only 10% of their supply... so who knows... but if that's actually part of the math I'd imply that to mean stuff with China going hot sometime in the next ~6 mos

So I have read into that and China is the biggest consumer of oil from Iran... its like 2/3 or something however, the last two months China hasnt imported any US oil at all.... so they could just start that back up again they would lose a trade war chip though.

I actually dont think it would go hot with China because I think China would step on the necks of Iran's leadership first. Hell of a lot better to keep peace with the US right now then to go hot with them and unify the whole country. One thing about America.... a war bridges all the divides.

All the more reason though for national security interests, of both countries, to set up something controlled... to ultimately deal with domestic issues.

The implication spook was making was that hitting Iran IS hitting China, as in that war is already hot, and to get them by the balls on energy. The hard time I have buying that is well what about Russian supply? and any hot war would close the oceans anyway...

Yeah the energy angel I’m not sure of. Now I will say a limiting factor for Chinese imports of Russia is they only have one operational oil pipeline so there is a max there. I know they were talking about a second but I believe that went through Mongolia who flat out said no. A ton of Russia oil could be cargo shipped but ya know that takes more time than a pipeline.

Also Russia’s oil infrastructure has just been crushed the last few months or so… earlier this year they banned exporting processed fuel because there processing facilities were blown up.

At the rate Israel is going with Iran I would be stunned if they do not through back channels come back to the table. Israel is continuously flying over them hitting their missile launchers when they roll out… Iran seems to have zero defense right now and I don’t know if it cause it’s been blown up or if they are hiding it…

It could easily and quickly reach a point though now that the US sends 2-3 B2 spirits over the fortified nuclear places and drop 4/5 bunker busters and end their program. I mean we know where the sites are where it is all stored and can take it all out including the centrifuges preventing them from trying again.

I say the idea of us is growing because Iran is such a mess but they keep trying to act like they are fine

Well that black fencing is what the Government got after Jan 6 and can be deployed within 24 hours to protect the entire capitol complex. For Trumps innaguration it was brought out, his speech before Congress, when Zelenskyy came earlier this year as well as Netanyahu.

Everytime there is something that could get out of hand or there are solid security threats against it goes up

I honestly did think there would be a much larger showing and more issues especially after what happened yesterday.... still could be esp as we get closer to the parade and the fireworks show after but the day has been pretty normal

Yeah it really is I mean he was appointed by Gov. Walz so I mean the guy was highly likely a registered and voting democrat, had the posters of No Kings in the vehicle but the target list had abortion providers on it supposedly so it’s unclear who was on that 70 target list.
