Milestones from their about page:
- Using Graph Neural Networks to achieve a major breakthrough in predicting the smell of a molecule from its structure.
- Creating new molecules no one had ever smelled before and predicting them with superhuman accuracy.
- Designing molecules that smell bad to mosquitoes (e.g. insect repellents) and are more potent than DEET in human trials.
It's interesting that they chose mosquito repellents as the most practical-profitable application. I can see this tech going in a lot of cool directions as someone curious about making perfumes. I also feel like smell is the least respected sense so there's probably a lot more to be discovered wrt applications.
