@Car was right with his review (#982032). It's fantastic. Maybe the best disaster of the series, and just a blast the entire time. They remembered that it's not just about gruesome deaths (although yeah, that's important), but fun moments connecting the story. By having fewer actual characters (there are only three major death set-piece scenes after the opener before the denouement), they allow time for characters to be fun and interesting (the brothers, in particular, are a blast).
Also, what a perfect final scene for Tony Todd's career.

So it actually connects to all the FDs. its optional if you look for it. That’s what’s so great about this movie, pleases every type of FD viewer coming in, new and old.

Oh yeah, I loved all the connections, both overt (Bloodworth talking about FD2), and the more subtle ones in the notebooks or elsewhere.

I'm impressed by how they've managed to keep the production looking cheap and campy. I also enjoyed it a lot.
