Am now one of the teachers-in-charge of the Basketball Club. Chaperoned the girls’ team to their match.
Growing up, I was never really into competitive team sports. Maybe my class competed against another class in school during recess, but that’s it. I never got to experience the crushing weight of losing, the relentless hold of time, and the camaraderie that arises when you fight hard with your teammates for every single point.
I could only cheer my students on. But even that showed me how wonderful it is to be part of something greater than myself.
Baseball, basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, kickball, dodgeball, badminton… you name it.
I’m from a small town. Every kid had to play everything, just to have enough for a team.

For sure. We exclusively played against teams from the nearby city, so it was good practice at handling defeat.

I was a pro handball player in my 18's... But I couldn't continue due to an injury (on medical advice)...

What are you doing now, and in hindsight, do you think your life has worked out for the better?
