I love how its only certain social media platforms, so not only is it questinable ethics disallowing the "promotion" of other social medias, its only SOME of them, which is even worse and less principled and more discriminatory even tho i hate that word

It's gets even more comical: Mastodon is just one server implementation of the ActivityPub protocol. Pleroma and Misskey are other ActivityPub implementations. Moreover, all ActivityPub servers make up the Fediverse.
So, this new policy is free-reign to say stuff like:
- "here's my activipub account: @orthzar@liberdon.com"
- "I'm on the fediverse at ..."
- "I have an acount on this pleroma server ..."

Yes, that puts Nostr in the crosshairs, the swarm is coming!
Although, this would have been the PERFECT system for off-boarding the entirety of twitter: https://www.nostr.directory/

And, it's gone.
Twitter Support deleted their Tweets about links to Mastodon, Nostr, etc. 🧵

Quite surprised Nostr was even excluded. There are certainly larger and more controversial social media platforms that could have made the blacklist.
Weird move, and free advertising.

Doesn't look like a good strategy. The good part is that this will help distributed and federated alternatives.
