Curious to know how many SN users know that the number of sats tipped can affect the ranking of a post/comment…
I already knew that89.3%
I didn’t know that10.7%
28 votes \ poll ended
And, ...
Did you know that you can earn from Daily reward/airdrop when you upvote posts that rank higher?
And I believe the more you tip (and the earlier you tipped) the greater the amount of your reward.
It's kind of opaque to me, at the moment though. The Earn entry in my Satistics doesn't break down how much of what I earned was from my Posts versus that from my upvotes/tips.

In notifications it should say but satistics doesn't yet.

I turned that notification back on, and indeed it is there:
  • n sats for top posts
  • n sats for top comments
  • n sats for tipping top content early
That's awesome to see!

Something I'm wondering is how the ranking of the Daily Discussion Thread is determined, since we can't tip it.
reply
Hardcoded 😉
reply
I'm sure it's hardcoded to always be on the first page, but I'm wondering how it's position thereon is determined. At the moment, it sits between rank 7 and rank 8 with no ranking, which suggest it has no ranking at all.
reply
It's always between 7 and 8 - that's the hardcoded part.

Nout is right. It didn't feel right at the top, nor between 3-4 where it was initially.
We plan to make it more like a chat with websocket-y stuff and make it a 'forever' stream and rebrand it SN Saloon.
We might put it at the top then.
reply
I like SN Saloon! :)

We plan to make it more like a chat
That'll be an interesting change. Are you planning to charge sats to chat? And if so, would it be per message or per day?
reply
It'll mostly work the same, including 1 sat per "message" in the chat ... only infinite scroll and web socket real time updates.
Multiple messages at the same "indent" level in 10 minutes would have exponential costs.

Before we implemented this, it seemed to be the assumption many stackers had. Curious to know though.
reply
that was always my assumption

That's a really cool system! It ties value to value.
