I’m one of those 😅 Of course it’s subjective, but I guess it’s about the feeling that the music you listen to is more melodic, makes more sense or is more profound. It’s not about the genre per se, but rather the balance.
Of course, it gets worse with age. Everything “youngsters” listen to sounds like garbage (though it isn’t necessarily).

Why not? 100 people, 79 of them have the same IQ and the rest 21 people have lower IQ. Then the 79 will be smarter than the average.

Possible of course, but we’re talking about real people, not a lab experiment with hand picked guinea pigs.
Anyways this is just a fun way to show how we tend to view ourselves positively.
