Most users now watch short videos only, which is seriously impacting their attention span. I pity the creators who are putting all their genuine efforts into creating longer, detailed useful info but will not get the views etc. because someone has already dropped half baked info with high phonk sound reel or short about it.

I pity people who appreciate long detailed videos, cause they are getting robbed of the opportunity to watch those as most users increasingly disincentivize those and Internet gets filled up with 30-second useless shorts and reels.

Honestly, I've just built the fuck around and find out kind attitude and try to find my own answers maybe by reading articles, books, detailed searching on Youtube by filtering time, using a client to remove shorts completely. I'm not on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc. anymore.

Social media seeks to trap us, to capture our attention through moments of dopamine.

It's similar to how text based game guides disappeared after YouTube, since everyone started making video guides
But I don't want to watch a 30 minute video... I just want to read a guide....

Wonder what will replace short videos

I think change will start as everyone is realizing how overstimulated they are because of consuming such content. The book they could finish in days takes months, and they still can't remember a goddamn thing. There is a reason why we see an increase in ad blockers, annoyance blockers, filters and such stuff. Being high on dopamine for a long time literally is the worst experience.

Man the paper back guides used to be so so good. Ocarina of Time comes to mind right away.
