Think this is VERY relevant as so many of us are hearing the right wingers flex their muscles about using power. And, I just posted something from Walsh where he wasn't doing this. I want to like Walsh but he really gets our ahead of his skis a lot.
Both the left and the right get into using power to enforce their choice of moral positions on everyone. This does not work. Especially in a nation as diverse and large as the US. It invites conflict and violence. The challenge for us that see this is that the message of liberty isn't as sexy when you wanna stick it to the other side!
They mentioned one of my favorite quotes from C.S. Lewis.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
What I like about these guys taking this apart is that they are pointing out the specific things that are problems in what Walsh and Carlson are saying. They aren't just calling them names.
The reason the left can't do this is because they are guilty of the same things. They just have a different set of preferences.
