Reality is getting weird when you've got to take an uber as a VPN.

be a bummer if Uber was an investor in Flock (superficially, doesn't look like they are, but Tiger Global has invested in both Flock and Uber)

Actually this is a GREAT analogy for VPNs. Uber is like most VPNs. Tracking everything you do. When you use a VPN you are just moving your trust from your ISP to the VPN provider.

Same goes for hitchhiking. That's more like using something like Mullvad.
