What is the total cost of the shutdown to date, including lost productivity, back pay, and economic ripple effects on families and businesses?

The estimations vary. You have some that peg the amount (granted this was at the very start of the shutdown) at $7 billion a week so roughly $23 billion at this point. I am not sure if that factors in the people who rolled off of payroll with taking the early retirement offer.
Treasury Secretary Bessent said on Oct. 15 that the shutdown could start to cost us as much as $15 billion per day. That seems pretty high and I would assume that would only really be the case if the government was closed all of October and didnt reopen until sometime in November.
