From Tom Woods newsletter.
In a recent interview, in the context of a discussion of Bitcoin, Nick Fuentes said, "I believe in fiat money generally."
And when asked if he would make Bitcoin legal tender, he said that he probably would not.
Woods nails this here.
The second answer was the correct one (no truly good money needs coercive "legal tender" laws), but the support for fiat money obviously was not.
Been meaning to write my thoughts on what is interesting about Fuentes but haven't yet. Woods expresses part of it here.
I think it's safe to say that much of what the Nick Fuentes wing of the right identifies as a sign of the deterioration of the health of the West occurred in the first place, or was at the very least intensified by, fiat money.
It's become fashionable these days on what I guess is called the New Right to pretend that economics is a foolish discipline studied by nerds, that all it cares about is GDP, and that its concerns are frivolous anyway, because don't you know we have a civilization to save!
I haven't written anything about Fuentes frankly because I'm sick of hearing about him. But he at least is a sign of what has been wrong on both the left and the right. It reminds me of my view of Trump. They seem to me to be reflective of some of the massive problems in our society.
There is such a need for good economics in politics. There are so many people on the right that clearly are lost on this topic.
Wait, why are people asking Nick Fuentes about his views on money?
