I regret our cross-off immediately. Let us know if we made the right choice or if @grayruby doomed us to failure.

We also covered the World Cup Draw in real time and with astonishing insights.

Did you guys know the MLS final match for 2025 season was on today? I had no idea until I saw this DangerousAI video of Messi trolling Ronaldo. And he said he had "no idea who he just played against. Some shitty team from the Canadian mountains."

I was wondering to myself, which shitty team, which Canadian mountains? Turns out it was my home team, the Vancouver Whitecaps, haha. Here are the highlights if you're interested.

I didn't know the World Cup was starting. Do you think I had any clue about MLS?

reply

I thought they're only doing the draws and announcing the schedule today? Which I also had no clue was happening. The games don't start till June next year

The games don't start till June next year

That's even worse scheduling than the NBA. At least they'd do both parts in the same year.

The most watched sporting event in the world that happens once every 4 years needs to take its time and stretch out its dealings to build up the hype leading to the one month long tournament.

reply

I will have long since forgotten about it after 6 months

reply

No worries. Everyone around you will probably remind you by the time it starts. If that don't happen, this territory will probably be filled with FIFA World Cup related posts by then.

reply

No one's going to remind me irl. I live in the middle part of the country and work with a bunch of nerds.

hahaha! I am already planning it. There will be 104 matches in total considering group phase and knock out stage. Get ready for Football Madness 2026!!!

Ooh early this week?

reply

Apparently, @grayruby has something called "a life" and had plans for Saturday night.

reply

It was news to me too.

Update: my wife made my iron my pants and shirt. I better behave tonight she isn’t messing around.

reply

Oh man it serious

That’s weird

The Panthers suck bro.

It turns out Australia isn't that good at men's soccer. They are ranked 26th. Only one spot ahead of Canada. US is currently ranked 14.

reply

So, you're saying America almost earned its top pot spot

reply

Seems to be the case.

reply

Btw, can you check the Fountain splits. It doesn't look like they're all coming through, but some are. Hopefully we aren't just bleeding sats into the ether.

reply

I just boosted the episode 210 sats. See if you got your share. I got 101.

reply

I did but I didn’t get any from Blok’s zap.

Over the past 30 days, I’ve gotten about 5k. Does that seem right?

In this episode, the hosts dive into a mix of sports topics while reacting live to the World Cup draw. They discuss the spectacle of the draw, featuring celebrities like Kevin Hart, Andrea Bocelli, and even Donald Trump, with host nations Canada (Group B), USA (Group D), and Mexico (Group A) placed early. Canada draws Switzerland, USA gets Australia, and they speculate on group outcomes.

The conversation shifts to NFL, reviewing the Cowboys' loss to the Lions (focusing on defensive struggles, missed tackles, and a controversial non-safety call on Dak Prescott). They debate playoff pictures, including crossing off the Panthers (despite fan polls favoring it) over the Chiefs due to tough schedules and tiebreakers in divisions like AFC North and NFC North. Detailed analysis covers teams like Lions, Bears, 49ers, and potential 9-win division winners vs. 11-win misses.

They update on survivor pools: NFL has 6 players left, with most picking the Buccaneers; NBA knockout rounds start with diverse picks (e.g., Heat, Knicks, Magic, Thunder). NBA talk highlights the Thunder's 21-1 start (on pace for 75 wins), potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trades (Thunder, Spurs, Rockets as fits; Lakers/Nuggets unlikely due to cap issues), and Raptors' recent struggles.

Other segments include Olympic hockey drama (unfinished Italian arena with undersized ice, risking NHL pullout), F1's championship finale favoring Max Verstappen, and brief MLB offseason teases. The episode ends with light-hearted banter on soccer knowledge and a promise for next week's updates.

I’d ask who the cross off was but I guess I’ll just listen to find out

Thanks guys for covering life this event, though was so long that it was a bit boring.

The interesting thing about seeding the favorites is that if any of them finish their group second, they will move to another side of the bracket and may end up playing with another top seed early on the knock out stage.

I can't wait for the first match!! My only concern is that I won't be able to follow all matches as the time difference means that some of them will be played around 3 or 4, even 6 am which is tough...

By the way, I wanted to say happy 2nd birthday to ~Stacker_Sports !!
