pull down to refresh

Used it a moment ago it was super easy, Azteco emails u a barcode, the shop scans the barcode, and then u receive a QR code to the email that u gave. The shopkeeper didn't have a clue what I was buying probably thought I was topping up the electricity. Simples!

So this QR code you receive in the mail, ... was it an Azteco voucher?
If so, wouldn't that put you at risk of there existing a rogue employee at your e-mail provider that sniffs e-mails for those messages and then redeems the voucher for themselves?
reply
I guess so, I used a throwaway email address so i didn't have to give them my email.

Is Azteco still using lnurl-withdraw? Can anyone confirm?

I see Pleb Lab is shown as an Azteco location.
Maybe @ThrillerX_ or @K00b might know.

ya not setup just yet...been busy getting everything ready here for #SATSx Hackathon but its def on a list of setting up here soon before then.
reply
I don't think we are setup with Azteco yet. afaik we just talked to them about it.

I'd love any updates on this whenever things change -- as Pleb Lab is listed on their site.
(Would make for a sweet Thriller Bitcoin blog post 🙂)

Looks like you found your answer!
Azteco's great paper UX wouldn't be possible without lnurl-withdraw.

Is this a cash for giftcard and giftcard for bitcoin service? If yes, I applaud them. Kind of confused why they aren't much more widespread anyway.

I think how it works is you can pay what is usually a retailer via some payment method and receive bitcoin via a voucher. Likewise you can sell Bitcoin to a retailer and they give you cash.
My understanding is it's like a Bitcoin ATM without requiring a big machine and all the logistics of that.

I'm not sure that's something Azteco itself offers. There are Azteco vendors who can offer whatever other services they wish, as well and perhaps you may find a vendor who will buy your bitcoin from you, but Azteco itself is, as far as I know, an on-ramp (into bitcoin) only.
reply
The process is extraordinarily simple. Select the amount of Bitcoin you want to buy, and have your barcode emailed to any email address. Show your barcode at any Paypoint location and pay. The instant you've paid, your Azteco Voucher is emailed to the address you specified.

A good article covering the developments from Azteco:

[UPDATE]
Wondering if the FCA's killing bitcoin ATMs also affects this service from Azteco ("Pay in person").
The Twitter link for this post is no longer valid and trying to use the Azteco site shows:
GBP sales paused. Please use an existing vendor.
