I am beyond shocked at people on SN not realizing that Iran has tried to carry out assassinations in the U.S. not just against Trump but literally Iranian activists in the U.S. How Iran has fueled the proxy wars and how the Houthis literally were nuking international shipping and that hits the U.S.
Iranian proxies have killed US personal (troops and contractors both) in the last few years. I’d assume they would want peace in the Middle East after all that’s good for the world but they seem possessed with letting the chaos linger and scream it doesn’t affect us because it doesn’t touch the mainland. Trade, citizens aboard, these people seem to scream fuck em.

Forever wars go hand in hand with boots on the group and frankly that’s not the case. Could that change? Yep but right now a week in that’s just not accurate. Libya was not a forever war but we bombed the hell out of them for a while same with Yemen. No boots just air strikes.
You clearly are missing that Iran has for decades resulted in asymmetrical warfare towards the U.S. You know in the 90’s and early 2000’s we actually got along pretty well with them but the moved to nuclear weapons. We already saw this play out with Pakistan and India two countries who hated each other but had them and you really think allowing them the only Shia country nukes wouldn’t cause the Sunni’s to go all in? Then you have 5+ more nuclear countries.
Libya, Syria, Iraq all were clear evidence that the U.S. could prevent nukes. We blew there facilities to hell but guess what they were trying to rebuild them they had even said so.
They threatened US and world trade with their support for the Houthi’s who attacked and killed civilians with no reason to. They claimed they were attacking Israeli ships, companies, or ships going to Israeli and only one of the three they hit and killed people with had any sort of tie to Israel the others… regular people.
You cannot simplify this war in the ways you want to. Even the time stamp of events highlight the U.S. needed to act. Israel was going to strike they gave us a heads up what do you think Iran would have done if it was only Israel? They would have attacked everything. Iran would have more ballistic and drones able to attack because 20 minutes after the Israeli strikes it’s when we hit there launch, Air Force, and Naval capabilities.
Think critically look at the whole thing hell Saudi backed the strikes and lobbied Trump for them. There is a critical reason why you are not seeing the Gulf States react against the US because Iran has been a terror and leading destabilizing force. The modern lethal maiming IED is literally credited to them. They have killed and injured thousands of American troops in the last 26 years.
Don’t forget about the Beirut Embassy and later the Beirut peace keeping force bombing. We hadn’t done anything to them and they killed our people.

Indications is that it's NOT the current narrative (that he was killed by a trans activist) but that instead, that the assassination was organized by pro-Israeli forces, and orchestrated by Bibi Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister.
