Howdy y’all,

Well, well, well… if it isn’t Friday the 13th again. It feels like it was just yesterday but nope, turns out it was three weeks ago. You really thought I was going to let the day pass without saying or something... anything? 🤓

And honestly I’m almost offended by how fast time passes. I’m hoping it means I’m enjoying myself and not that I’m simply getting older and my brain has turned into a slightly gooey substance that can no longer process the concept of time.

My pal Jason is sitting on my desk watching me, making sure I actually do the thing I’ve been saying I’ll do for the past three days which in this case is writing this post.

So here I am (and there he is).

As usual, I’m also working on a new blog entry. I should publish it... soon-ish. In the meantime I’ve been baking my beloved husband some delicious lemon meringue pie cookies and today I baked this super yummy blueberry muffins 🤤

And while baking (and doing other things around the house), I’ve been listening to quite a bit of music. I figured I’d share what’s been on rotation lately my playlist, as the cool kids probably still say. Though honestly it doesn’t matter what they call it… we’re all gonna die anyway.

Last summer Deftones dropped a new album and I wrote a little something about it here.

I still cannot get enough of it. Just pure perfection (for me). Of course it’s not the only Deftones album I keep on rotation. While baking earlier in the morning, I had Ohms playing. And when "Genesis" comes on sigh I just love them dearly.

Moving on to Dance Gavin Dance. The release of Jackpot Juicer was a bit sour for me at first because of the allegations involving their previous lead singer. Whatever the truth is, only the people involved really know. And the death of their bassist just before that made the whole period feel pretty tumultuous.

They’ve changed lead singers so many times over the years, but this latest shift was definitely felt. Their newest album Pantheon isn’t really doing it for me. I miss the cheek‑in‑tongue weirdness and those wonderfully nonsensical lyrics.

That said, I’ve been listening “For the Jeers” nonstop for the past few weeks.

🕺 Now let’s go back to Chino Moreno but this time with ††† (Crosses). Chef’s kiss. Truly amazing.

It’s been three years since their latest album and I desperately need more music from them, but in the meantime I still have Good Night, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. My favorite track from that album is “Big Youth”

Bonus track from a previous album: “Day One” It’s like… tropical goth synthwave. Bright mood every single time.

And of course I couldn’t possibly be baking without one of my grooviest bands: Deafheaven. I completely lost my mind seeing them live last year

Their latest album is so darn gooooood.

Anyway, that was a bit of a word salad about what I’ve been listening to lately.

What about you? What’s been on your rotation recently? Would you give any of these songs a try?

I’m off to have some of those muffins.

Godspeed.

That's what Feb does when it's divisible by 7 (when the year is divisible by 4).
Then the next 13th will also be a Friday.
So it was 4 weeks ago.

hahahaahaha I love that scene.

I’ll try to remember that fun little fact

Yeah, I used to be like Hermione. Very much. Still am a bit. But she's dying in me.

It's a bit sad actually. I liked her. It's when you're not recognized for your smarts by your teachers and parents. You really gonna prove yourself afterwards and make sure the others know. Really painful.

reply

don’t let her die! hermione is the bomb! (sometimes, but still) being a bit of a smarty pants is the best!

reply

She's gonna pull a Gandalf on me I think.
