In the Image Capture utility, the Bitcoin whitepaper is used as a sample document for a device called āVirtual Scanner II,ā which is either hidden or not installed for everyone by default. Itās not clear why itās hidden for some or what exactly itās used for, but Reid Beels suggested it may power the āImport from iPhoneā feature.

What a find!
On 12.2.1, can confirm itās there. Wonder how long it will be before Apple remove the Easter egg
Works on OS 13 as well. From this point forward I refuse to install any OS that does not have the Bitcoin whitepaper built in.
Unless Iām blind I didnāt see it in 13.3
It's on 13.2.1. Possible they've already removed it. I'm never updating!
Interesting.
So it might have lived from 10.14.0 to 13.2.1 if indeed it was removed.

Satoshi lives on!
Fascinating. That sounds sonon purpose š±
There are Bitcoiners in every big tech company. A few of them are open about it, and others content themselves dropping silent orange pills.
This is like the Bitcoin Sign Guy, really
Came here to say the same thing.
Confirmed it's on macOS 13.2.1.
It's exactly the same file as bitcoin.pdf (same content and same metadata), just renamed to simpledoc.pdf
Have you checked the hash of the file?
It's the same file:
