It's intriguing to see people complaining that Ledger has slipped up.
People are talking, stating that they have bought and are using it.
I believe the most significant issue here is announcing that you, in some way, own Bitcoin or cryptocurrency.
If you have a hardware wallet, merely question if there are other security measures.
Don't reveal that you own it.

fwiw, Jade by Blockstream also needs to contact a server (for the PIN) to work properly as well -- realized this when they did that mining thing: you gotta send and recv work with a live server

Yes. It was disclosed from the beginning and this is a security model which allows Jade to be affordable.
