Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO) heavily invests in it.
We need to build a Bitcoin-based "proof of humanity"
No. We're not building a human tracking system to bag and tag people and enable absolute authoritarian control.

Worldcoin is Bitcoin's biggest threat
No it isn't, it is not even in the "TOP50" threats
reply
Nope, it isn't and we don't need "proof of humanity". Nonsense.
Why... do we need "proof of humanity"? Is this from some fear of AI? Don't fall for the AI fear mongering. Remember, when the media and politicians are trying to scare us, they want to take from us. Freedom, money, and sovereignty. Fine to have concerns about AI but it doesn't mean we all need to have our bio-metrics on a blockchain...

I was quite surprised to see that he was the guy behind Worldcoin and OpenAI. Much dystopian.

Proof of humanity is like the gateway drug to Digital IDs. One reason I despise a lot ENS degens.

I see where you are coming from, and there will probably be a demand for proof of personhood systems, but Bitcoin's biggest threats are probably just widespread apathy and maybe government bans. Most people see Worldcoin as a joke, and thus won't turn to it in favor of Bitcoin.

Don't think we need proof of identity at all

What is a single "proof of personhood" use case other than creating another human GPS system

I think there are people who want to create a global UBI program, who recognize that lack of quality identifiers makes it impossible.

I am starting to believe that UBI will be the trojan horse for CBDCs
reply
I think that's very likely.

What would that look like?
You can create a web of trust with people gathering at key signing parties and verifying that the holder of a public key is a real human but that's not a new idea; people do that with PGP keys already.
Although I guess it doesn't really prevent someone from handing that key over to an AI...
reply
It has to be trustless somehow, and AI resistant.
