The stacker that manage to withdraw >20m sats as a result of the here-called Crazy Rewards Bug has returned 18m sats.

They contacted me shortly after their initial withdrawal on Monday night. Amidst the commotion I hadn't been checking other comm channels.

Anyway, as promised, 100% of those 18m sats will make their way to the rewards pool. First we'll make a few adjustments to the rewards pool so that it distributes rewards more evenly (plans we already had but hadn't prioritized). Once that's done, for 90 days we'll been adding an additional 200k sats to the rewards pool on a daily basis.

Thank you to the stacker for returning the sats. 🫂

In bitcoin world the bugs in the software you use pay you money! :D

@k00b please bring back true BLACK background for SN, you changed it to dark grey ...

reply

It's easier on the eyes. Why do you want it full black?

reply

While I appreciate the intention to make it easier on the eyes, it's all personal preference, personally it makes it WAY harder on my eyes. Full black was just so easy on my eyes.

Having the option to choose between dark grey and true black backgrounds would be a great way to cater to a wider range of user preferences. Please consider this!

reply

@k00b I strongly dislike the current greyish background color, it's too bright (and tiny bit of blue/purple?). I believe users didn't request this change. If you're going to implement such a significant alteration, it would be appreciated if you could provide an option for users who like the old color, to choose their preferred type of dark mode. Personally, I would prefer a true-black OLED-like background, like SN always had. It also worked better for OLED screens, which almost all phones use nowadays.

We can support more themes following the recent changes. If you're on github please open an issue so we can figure out how to prioritize it.

Good to see people doing the right thing, without the need for reversible transactions, without the need for coercive force

I had an idea where
Instead of adding all those sats to prize pool we can make portion of it to something like task or micro tasks (it can be like "make a good post curation algo [algo/code request] , a bug fix or "add this
option to sn" [contribution] or "make a better night mode design" ....)
This can be done as a new post type or a sub
its something like bounty but more accurate and precise

reply

We already pay for code contributions. We definitely need to do a better job of advertising it.

reply

Yes that the point

What about separating the rewards from the main account for SN?
In case this repeat again.
Maybe in the future separate each person wallet as they are being doing on Nostr(damus) ?

reply

While we can and should have non-custodial options, this wouldn't prevent the problem.

If we were non-custodial, this bug would've automatically withdrawn a lot more bitcoin from SN's node.

Because we are custodial, we were able to reverse the error before anyone else withdrew the sats given to them by the bug.

Wow. This is agreat community.

Crazy rewards bug... 🤔 Rewards cannot be crazy. Bugs can do crazy things. Including crazy rewards... But, I just wonder how they look like, as this is a kind of paradoxical abracadabra! 😁

reply

You probably don't see this else where. Bravo.
