Hello there,
I have an inportant question. Are you saving some money for your child in bitcoin? My wife is pregnant now and we decide to create bitcoin wallet for our child. We will send something about $25 every monts until our child will be adult. Its 18 years nad 9 months of saving and i hope my child will have better live with bitcoin.
After my son (yes it will be son) will 3-4 years old, i will create Lightning Network wallet for him. Than he will recieve some satoshi for homework, good results in school, etc... My vision is gamification of this rewards. I already begin developing of little game for him. Satoshis will be some kind of experience which he will recieve for homeworks and good acting. More satoshis is more experience and more experience is way for badges and rewards. For example: You recieve 100 000 satoshi for helping at home in one month? OK, now you can choose one game for Playstation 8 and I will buy it for you.
How about you? Are you saving some money in bitcoin for your children? How about Satoshi gamification reward system?
I set my son up with a Phoenix wallet to receive his weekly allowance and he loves being able to spend it on video games via bitrefill (otherwise he has to ask mom or dad to enter their credit card.)

I will let him choose if he wants weekly allowance in FIAT or satoshi. In Czech Republic is no much places in smaller city where child can spend bitcoin like allowance :D.
reply
I give him that choice as well. He generally prefers sats!

Wonderful strategy! Thanks for shere this idea. I wish the best for your family.

I'm saving up. Of course, not on such a scale as the US presidential candidate :)

The stack goes to my heir(s) when I die, so yes?

That's what I'm wondering too. Can people's stacked stacks in their wallet automaically transfer to other relatives wallet after something happens?
reply
No! Share seed with with your children in right time. Or check Shamir backup solution

If you aren't already, it may be worth it to have some fatter UTXOs. I personally use a minimum of about $100 for on-chain.

For sure, I am holdings BTCs on exchange until 0.01 BTC before i send it to hardware wallet

love that!

Yes I am saving basically all of it for them, but I like the ideas here about setting them up with their own wallets and using them as a tool for weekly “allowances” which I’ll re-define as “weekly wages” in exchange for chores and other value added behaviors they demonstrate to me

Sounds like you've thought about it quite a bit
I also have some similar ideas about paying them small amounts for chores & learning goals. They also need to earn their bitcoin like we do!

Yes! I really like RPGs and played D&D a lot when i was young. I have an idea about avatar for my son. He will have created character which will recieve XPs like a satoshi. So my son can offer an extra help to his mom and earn some XPs for his avatar and some satoshi too.

Yes, definitely stacking with future generations in mind. Kudos.
I do not have a reward mechanism and have been also thinking how to do it. I struggle with:
  • I do not really like paying a child to do chores or help at home. This should be natural and not for a reward imho. (unless it is some task that is not a chore and is done once in a while)
  • rewarding kids for homeworks, grade or good acting - this also does not seem like the way to go
It needs more thought on my part, how to do it best.

I understand your problem with paing a child. Thats what i want implement gamification into this. Child is not happy to recieve money (satoshis) but experience points which opens him some rewards.
