Pros... video and voice calls. Cons... who and how have access to the data 🤔 😐 😕
Woah.
Stay away from Elon's KYC trap.

Since hiring a WEF agent as CEO.

Yeah. Seems this way. It'll all eventually be leveraged and sold.

Simplex Chat has Voice / Video calls, w/o a phone number and without any user identifiers at all
Plus you can run your own server, it's fully open source, audited, and secure/private by design.
If you want to announce something to the world, the best place is Nostr.
If you want to communicate privately, the best place is Simplex.

Great comment. Skype 3.0

Sooo skype? lol Why don't they just add keet/holepunch to their stack or hopefully this pushes nostr clients to add it
reply
Skype is a relic without the market share of X.

Keet was supposed to be open sourced before the beginning of this year (2023).
Until then, I won't touch it (again).

Jitsi exists.

Don't you need a phone number to sign up to Twitter in the first place though?

Without phone number? Will it work with twitter account?

Not sure your age/demographic... but Facebook was an "everything app" when it blew up.
There was no vine or instagram or snapchat or Twitter. Nothing.
Ok, there was MySpace and LiveJournal but they didn't quite have everyone on it.
Facebook was THE place to be and everyone came... then videos and all the other stuff.
The rest is history. Not saying it's good or bad but just how it went.
