So I finally figured out how to connect my sparrow wallet to my core node which is on my home server. I'm currently connecting through my LAN: Sparrow on Laptop > Bitcoin Core on Server. I made this move because my NordVPN would disrupt my ability to connect Sparrow to any public server. I'm feeling much more comfortable about this now, as it allows my NordVPN to be connected while operating Sparrow.

Additionally, when I'm away from home, I have a VPN tunnel (L2TP) to my home network. So I can connect Sparrow to my Bitcoin Core node even when I'm away from home. Only issue is that I must disengage my NordVPN in order to turn on the VPN to my home network. I'm thinking this is still a better setup than before..?

Anything further y'all would recommend to increase privacy/security? Would love to know your thoughts.

Move off from NordVPN to something like mullvad

Here's one reason to move off of NordVPN. VPNs don't really give you privacy. They shift your traffic to be seen by the VPN provider instead of your ISP. When evaluating VPN providers you want to take a look at how they are structured. Mullvad is open source. They do not require ID verification (credit card, email, etc). You can pay with bitcoin, make sure this is non KYC bitcoin or bitcoin that has been coin joined with whirlpool.

Thanks for the details. I'm aware services like Nord are really more like proxies, and not fully private compared to the likes of Mullvad. I'd never heard of them, so I've got them bookmarked for when the time comes. Looks like next is adding coinjoin with Sparrow.

Read up on whirlpool on the Sparrow docs. Try to use the largest UTXOs as possible when you coin-join.
