I have a playlist called Then Suddenly, it's a collection of epic music that starts off chill and suddenly gets epic. The epicness helps my brain refocus to "shits getting serious" mode for when I get distracted 🤠

I almost exclusively listen to prog rock (e.g. this and this) and prog metal (e.g. this and this). I cannot stand the endless repetition in most genres (e.g. 20 seconds of melody/harmony/rhythm repeated to make a 3 minute song); most prog music is substantially less repetitive than most genres.
I find new prog music through Wikipedia and ProgArchives. Usually the best prog albums (yes albums, not just individual songs) have the highest rating and listenership. Ordinary people do have a sense for good music, if only they were given the opportunity to hear it.

The jack hammer…. That’s not a band. It’s an actual jack hammer.

You just run a jack hammer while you work?
reply
The jack hammer is my work. And the pick. And the shovel. Sometimes the tipper cart. Earplugs are required but I really wish they were headphones lol
reply
There's a business idea. Noise cancelling so good you can listen to tunes while you're jackhammering.
I've never used a jack hammer. What is your line of work called? Paver? Masoner?
reply
About 130 decibels is normal so it would need to be next level metal to cut through that!

I like jazz but I find that it distracts me too much. Classical music that I've not heard before at a low volume seems to work well for me.

You should try Gustav Mahler - strangest of the strange!
reply
I'll have to check him out, but if its too weird that is also very distracting

Symph. no. 8 will blow You away. It had the same effect on me when I heard John Coltrane for the first time.

If I need to focus, I prefer opera, otherwise a mash of rap/hip-hop, folk, disco, rock, blues, funk, metal, whatever fits the mood!
Have a good day too!

Used to listen to mostly metal on headphones when worked at fiat office job, now working for Bitcoin at home feels less need for a music and headphones all the time, it's more relaxing by default.
