Yesterday I posted about a site I created ( QuestionsForGood.com ) without writing code, using only no-code tools, and it seems there is some interest from people to learn how to create this kind of web (or maybe mobile) apps without having to learn to code.
I could create some material for people to learn this, or maybe some kind of group to help anyone with ideas, or just learn together (I am thinking out loud).
Anyone interested?
I am. Even if it has some minimal coding too. How can it be without learning to code at all?
reply
There are many no-code tools out there. Like Bubble.io, Adalo, or low-code like FutterFlow.
The rest is done with plugins.
reply
Thank you. I'll have a look at these.
reply
Count me in.
reply
Cool. Can you share what is your background and what would you expect to be able to achieve?
Maybe what would be your preferred format for learning these things?
reply
I dont have a coding background. Right now I'm going through some of the plebdev lessons/nostr dev course/100 days of coding lessons in replit. The only learning formats I've used have been videos and tutorials.
I'm interested in creating a nostr client where people upload and zap STL files for 3d printing. If anything it would make a cool addition to a dev resume on github. I'd eventually like to complete bounties and contribute to open source projects.
reply
Got it. Worth mentioning that as far as I know, there are no Nostr integrations for any nocode platform.
Would be cool if someone creates something for that.
reply
I would like to learn how to integrate LN to sites like you did in https://questionsforgood.com/ , quite cool.
reply
A tutorial on integrating LN via no code will be freakin great.
reply
Let's make it happen. What platforms do you like? What kind of examples / use cases would you consider most relevant?
reply
I love vida.page and lncal
Also your website looks cool.
I've explored wized (on webflow) a bit, would love to know how I can pull this off without getting my hands too dirty with code.
reply
yes, both are cool and doable (I think).
There is so much that can be done without code. I have no idea on how to even write one line.
Webflow is a bit more limited but maybe only because I am not that much into it. My best suggestion is Bubble.io but there are simpler options.

Great. let's hope more people are interested. Can you share what kind of apps are you interested in creating? And / or what is your background? @Natalia @quark

For a while I've been wanting to create some kind of subscription service for downloads. Where the user can pay to have access to a folder with files for some time.
I thought something like this: User login with LN and it opens a profile page where the user can set their user name and password for the download. User pays with LN some sats and it gives permission to download from a folder for a month for example. The downloads folder is protected by nginx server policy. The app should be able to modify the nginx configuration file with all the users and passwords allowed to download. Cron job can check dates to remove users when subscription period has passed. Maybe there are better ways to do protected downloads. I don't know.
reply
Sounds to me like it can be done. What would be an example use case of that? Like access to a valuable spreadsheet?
reply
Yes that could be, or for example access to download a software and a month of updates of the software. If they want more updates later they can always send some days again for another month of updates or new software that can be added. The nginx is configured to allow access to the specific directory and all its subdirectories.
reply
Got it. I have no idea what nginx is but the concept is doable for file, not so sure for software since most nocode tools are either for web apps or mobile apps. No native desktop apps that I know.
reply
Share it and they will come:)
Can you share what kind of apps are you interested in creating? And / or what is your background?
I don't have specific apps on my mind yet, but I want to explore the possibilities of integrating sites with LN tools, in a simple and beautiful way.
Background: No coder, learned some basic of WP and built some simple sites.
reply
Got it, cool. :)
reply
Definitely!
reply
Tell me more.. format of choice?
Specific concepts?
reply
sharing materials to read right here on SN to read would be awesome
could break ideas up into articles
*there will also be more custom subs soon, if we wanted to float the idea of a "how-to" or tutorial type sub
reply
Ok, I think it is easier to learn via videos, but could also create some reading materials for people who are good at self-teaching.

I was going through the website. It's interesting indeed. Only one challenge. Why should I use Twitter? The centralized systems like Twitter are dying. Why not using Nostr?
reply
Excelente question, I asked myself the same thing. 2 reasons:
  1. Most people use Twitter, specially "VIP's", so if you want Elon, Obama, Federer, Beyonce and the likes to answer, you need an already verified system.
  2. Nostr does not have yet a way to integrate it into nocode platforms. Would love to use it.

So there seems to be some interest, so I just created this simple Google Form for anyone that wants to get notified when this is ready: https://forms.gle/k7jnRJiZWvkhm6mu6

I had a look at zeroqode, after seeing your post yesterday. Their origin story was also a good read, btw.
As someone that used to sell no- and low-code products, I still have a keen interest in the field, so yes, I'd like to be kept in the loop. But it looks like the form is just collecting email addresses? Not sure if I want to do that at this point.
reply
I think it would be a great way to put everyone in the position to contribute to the Bitcoin ecosystem, so go for it! There's plenty of tools out there, but often this abundance feels a bit overwhelming. I would rather follow a simple well-written guide with recommendations and maybe other options to consider if the reader really wants to try out something new. Great initiative!
reply
Got it. Thanks!
Main idea is to keep it simple
reply
Some no-code platforms offer plugins for sale and in most cases, they present seriously security issues and vulnerabilities. In addition, it would be really hard to debug code if you never wrote it in the first place. Just like WordPress, I have always stayed away from such and took the longest, hardest, but the surest way: learn to code.
reply
I understand your point. But learning to code is just not realistic for some people. For those who can and have the time, I would say go for it, but we need to create as much use cases as possible for Bitcoin, and that comes when you make it easy for anyone to explore and create their ideas.
reply
No.
reply
ok, thanks for taking the time to answer ;)
reply
Yes please! I’m so noob that I don’t even know how to set up my node
reply
Ok, this would not be so much around nodes and wallets. More about creating web apps or mobile apps with Bitcoin LN Integrated. Makes sense?
reply
Yes. Still interested
