What is Work.Sat? Work.Sat is a mobile web app for remote workers. It serves as a match-maker between orgs/projects and remote workers.
Orgs/ projects can post jobs/gigs and hire applicants, by paying a few Sats. Applicants can apply to most jobs/ gigs for free (unless required by org/ projects to fight application spam).
The platform distinguishes itself through the use of Lightning for payments, and the soon-to-be-released Nostr for reputation management feature. It fosters a lightweight matchmaking service that fights spam jobs & applicants while avoiding control over identity, reputation, or payments.
Why is BitShala Building it? BitShala is a developer school focused on Bitcoin. We run a developer school to educate developers about Bitcoin Tech, but we just don't leave the graduates there, we also run an incubator to help these devs build Bitcoin/Nostr/Lightning open-source projects and help them get placed creating more Bitcoin goodness in the world.
To manage applications and to solve the matchmaking problem between graduates and projects we started building an in-house solution, but we felt it would be even more useful if
  • we opened up Project/Org pool beyond BitShala
  • we opened up Applicants pool beyond BitShala graduates
Work.Sat, though was born to solve our personal problem and we will continue to dogfood it, but now it's time that our baby should be released in the world as a standalone product whose ambition is to become the leading platform:
  • For hiring & engaging bitcoin talent immediately (for FOSS or venture needs)
  • For hiring & engaging all remote talent in the future
Where are our customers? And Why SEA? Most of BitShala attendees have been from India, Thailand, and South East Asia.
Besides Southeast Asia, particularly Bali, is the hub for remote workers and gigs.
Working as part of the "Legends of Lightning: Indonesia Bitcoin conference" is more than a product launch for us β€” it's an invitation to connect with local projects, organizations, and talent. We are excited to gather invaluable feedback, allowing Work.Sat to evolve organically as a solution finely tuned to the nuances of the ecosystem of remote workers.
Why Now? The timing of Work.Sat is strategic, addressing a pervasive challenge faced by both recruiters and applicants in the era of AI-driven application and recruitment spam. Take applicants, for instance. Platforms like LinkedIn are witnessing an overwhelming influx of resumes. As AI advances, the ability to customize applications and resumes in seconds exacerbates this issue. Work.Sat's innovative solution introduces a cost for the recruiter's attention, if required, compelling applicants to thoughtfully consider their suitability for a position. This holds true for recruiters as well, mitigating the overwhelming influx of applications.
