Joe Rogan, podcasting’s biggest star, has renewed his deal with Spotify. The new multiyear deal will allow his show, which is currently exclusive to the streamer, to be distributed to YouTube, Apple, and other podcasting platforms.

Glad to see he will no longer be locked behind the Spotify app. IMO if you can’t get a podcast through RSS it shouldn’t be called a podcast.
I wonder what Spotify gets out of the deal though since people won’t have to access it through their platform anymore?

It's literally not a podcast if it's not an audio file available for download for you to listen to as you please and with an RSS or Atom feed as an interface.
Spotify is following the "embrace, extend, and extinguish" playbook in their attempt to kill podcasting for their benefit. It's a great thing it failed.
