What experiences have you had in convincing your local retailers and restaurants to accept Bitcoin? I've brought it up several times, and there's definitely interest. What solutions do you recommend for the shops? I find the option of having an app on the phone, like Wallet of Satoshi, quite practical. However, some owners looked at me a bit strangely, as they considered it more of a gimmick. I'm not familiar enough with setting up a node myself to accept Bitcoin as a merchant, so I can only refer to online content. However, I don't think shop owners would be keen on running a node, so using an app might be simpler?

There are a number of apps that have a point if sale (breez, WoS, zeus, blink). Merchants in the west will need to at least be interested in bitcoin to get started. You don't need to run a node, but there are costs to using LN and holding the funds yourself.

I have also spoken with some older owners who have dismissed the idea of accepting payments via a mobile phone, seeing it more as a gimmick. Are there providers that still offer credit card payments and bitcoin through a sort of credit card reader?
