I once had a dream where I took a shit, and out came paper money with grub worms eating away at it.
Only the grub worms were left with the money gone.
I guess my subconscious was trying to say Grubhub was eating away at my earnings? All I had to show for it was shitting out the food I got from Grubhub?
I was BIG on this for years, I’ve now left it behind and started using rewards for cash back and stacking sats. I look at that as rewards points since they can’t be diluted.
How are using food apps, watching Netflix, vaping, etc fiat habits? They might be bad habits, but what does it have to do with using Bitcoin or not? Are Bitcoiners supposed to be monks who do nothing but "stack sats" and live an "enlightened" life? Using Bitcoin does not change you as a human, you'll still have many of the same flaws as before. If you can't address them in a fiat world, why would you be able to address them in a bitcoin world?
Bitcoin does change you. Consuming things like Netflix weakens the mind and destroys creativity.
Using food apps wastes money that is better spent raising a family, and you are eating fiat garbage that makes you fat, constantly hungry, docile, and lowers testosterone.
This is a great thread on SN, because change a few habits and your life can improve just as Bitcoin has improved your wealth.
I’m starting to think of value in terms of sats but can’t seem to break out of the habit of noticing the equivalent fiat value
An example: 10. 8/2/2024 - Wife needed to do overtime work today, so this meant that I had to whip out my sats to buy a $11 worth of food takeout voucher from Bitrefill. Thank goodness I have been posting consistently on Stacker News. Earned 182 sats as cashback.
Should have noted how many sats I spent on getting the gift card instead! ☝️
Thinking and spending on Fiat, I need to change that and work more on mastering the new setup, just thinking, managing, budgeting and spending on sats.
Binging Netflix…consuming instead of building
This is the answer that gets right down to the heart of things, IMO: Using versus building.
Getting stuck on my phone scrolling for too long. Can be hard to kick social media addictions sometimes.
I found a great solution to this one... getting stuck on stacker.news zapping instead
Grubhub

Solution: stop eating fiat food. Cooking meat is easy. Add salt and fire, and 10 minutes or so, and you are done for the entire day.

In what world do you live in where nothing costs money? 🤣
Using food delivery apps.
Beer 🍻
In Dolly Parton’s infamous song working 9 to 5
Credit card reward points for travel (would love a credit card that offered sats back instead)

Putting 3% into a 401k just because my boss matches it
Bruh, that match is a free return that you will convert to bitcoin one day!
Would be better off having bought bitcoin with my 3% over the last 5 years
Yes, but you didn't.
The don’t allow ETFs or any individual stocks.
This will change. If your company uses Fidelity it will change quickly.
At least buy the spot ETF with that trapped money.
The don’t allow ETFs or any individual stocks.
You can get a loan from your 401k and lump sum into bitcoin. Can borrow 50%. The interest you pay is back to yourself
Looking at my phone as soon as I wake up. Procrastinating... Seeing the BTC/FIAT price and swearing, I still have too much stacking to do 🤣
Try charging your phone in a different room. Makes a world of difference.
Junk food
Using Google, phone, email and other Auth services, instead of simply using Lightning or Nostr.

$11 could have bought 1.5 kg red meat and nourished you for the day.
Learning to cook is a good way to save SATs.

(But speaking seriously, all procrastination is a fiat habit and I still catch myself doing it too often)
Vaping
sugar
Watching sports and eating ice cream after my family has gone to bed.
I don't eat ice cream every night but when I do, I hit it hard.
Why have you dragged this darkness out of me?
Yes yes good 👍

Potato Chips... (but it's under control)
Thinking and spending on Fiat, I need to change that and work more on mastering the new setup, just thinking, managing, budgeting and spending on sats.
Think of what you got paid in Bitcoin 5 years ago, or 10, and what do you get paid now?
