Paying few sats for vpn by the minute.
Beats all the other services with recurring subscriptions.

Custodial wallets always win in UX, but a great non-custodial experience is Phoenix wallet. (Trust-minimized, actually.)
There is no perfectly trustless, non-custodial lightning wallet yet but we're getting closer.

paid a fellow bitcoiner's kids for their homemade handicrafts at a meetup. it was awesome, the kids totaled my bill, sent an invoice, I paid it, we all high-fived.

awesome! did they have an easy time making the invoice? did they show you the qr code or send you the invoice otherwise?

Landed in Germany and got a text from my US cell provider demanding $10 a day.
Bought an esim from silent link for $10 a month and paid in lightning.
Had cell service before I got my bags at baggage claim.

I wasn't too much aware about lightening until Binance implemented it in app for payments. But ever since then most of my payments in Bitcoin have been via Binance.

The WoS is another that I use mostly for smaller transactions.
The best experience came when the first ever transaction I made through lightening and it's been taht way ever.

Ah, so you use the binance app to make payments? You can use your regular BTC balance for that? Is that easy to find, or do you have to go through lots of extra steps to confirm the transaction?
reply

Yes I use without any extra steps

This was awhile ago ... haven't tried more modern, vouched for things much yet except to play around.
Noncustodial:
- BTCPay Server or Zaprite for sending to receiver online
- When sending, Zeus hooked up to my node or Breez
- Muun was great when fees were low
Custodial:
- Open Node for sending to receiver online
- When sending, it's all the same really

Honestly tipping through Alby but linked to my own node is very satisfying, on nostr or on lightning enabled websites. 2 click and then money flows at speed of light to enrich total strangers creating good content.
Also paying people abroad for their services, without worrying about any currency exchange rate/fees and bank authorization is amazing.
You really realize how our parasitic overlords are keeping the world in misery for much longer than is should have been, without any other reason that keeping their privileges on the money printing, through nonsensical mone monopoly and legal tender...
