I don't want to add insult to our injuries (talking about our inability to help being speculative) but 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' has left me scratching my head with a thought. After watching the movie, I could only imagine that only Apes can overpower and outsmart humans in future.   But after I came out of my euphoria with Apes, I remembered I also watched 'Terminator 2' years ago. I recalled that it was a sci-fi fiction that depicted how humans were hugely overpowered by robots or AI or machine learning. The movie was a blockbuster and set a narrative of intelligent machines overtaking humans in 2029.
(These are two stories set with two differing plots, two differing genres but they set a similar narrative, 'who or what's gonna overpower humans?)
But as things stand now, we can officially argue that the accelerating advancements in artificial intelligence could lead to a scenario where machines become more intelligent than humans and ultimately dominate society.
However, there is another perspective (my personal favourite) that suggests that it is not AI, but rather the great apes that have the highest potential to surpass human intelligence.
This contrasting viewpoint stems from the fact that great apes, such as chimpanzees and orangutans, possess high cognitive abilities and have demonstrated problem solving and learning capabilities that could potentially surpass those of humans in certain tasks.
These great apes have shown remarkable intelligence in various studies, including their ability to use tools, communicate effectively, and exhibit complex social behavior. In short Apes are Apes but Humans are also Apes.
Humans (Homo sapiens) or modern humans are the most common and widespread species of primate, and the last surviving species of the genus Homo. They are one of the five great apes characterized by their hairlessness, bipedalism, and high intelligence.
At last, I dare say, if you believe that machines can outsmart humans, Apes as living beings, who look at humans as their brothers and sisters have more chances of overpowering humans in future.
What do you say?
