Calling all stackers!
Leave a comment below to let the SN community know what you're working on this week. It doesn't matter how big or small your project is, or how much progress you've made.
Just share what you're up to, and let the community know if you want any feedback or help.
If you missed last week's thread, here are the updates stackers shared from all their latest work projects.

I am working on a data analysis project related to flyball. Well, if you have never heard about flyball before, it is a relay race for dogs. The dogs jump the hurdles, trigger a box that launches a tennis ball, catch the ball, and then race back to their handlers. It looks pretty cool and it is very fast. That whole process: run, catch the ball, run back is done by the fastest dogs under 4 seconds.
Here is an obvious result: Younger dogs run faster

messin' about with Fedimint & Cashu protocols
Very powerful tech. Don't like certain tradeoffs but it's really great.
Patiently waiting for Supertestnet to launch his own LN implementation so we can use his hedgehog setup

With reviewing code I have been told that AI is pretty good at it. Is that the case in your opinion? Do you see AI starting to write more and more code and humans to be much more hands off or is the tech not there yet?

We use coderabbitai as you can see in the PRs in our repo. It does spot some things here and there (like this timing attack vector) but it definitely does not replace a human code review ... yet? Maybe it never will. Maybe that's just cope and human arrogance though. We will have to see.
However, I would say it currently definitely already helps with freeing up time for more important details; essentially making you more efficient.
I also use Github Copilot. I was actually quite shocked how useful it can be when I started using it. Made me feel dumb I haven't tried it out earlier. It really seems to get the context and can predict easy stuff pretty well so I don't have to bother with typing it out myself. I can just press TAB to let the AI complete the code I was about to write myself.
ChatGPT is also pretty useful. I use it as a search engine on steroids. If I don't find a good answer on StackOverflow, ChatGPT can often give me an answer that is good enough to keep the ball rolling.
My mind was actually blown by it when it was released in November 2022 and I just tried it out for fun for pentesting lab homework. I basically simply copied the code from the exercise into the prompt input and asked: "What is wrong with this code? How can I exploit it?" Then it gave me a few things I could check for and the solution was indeed in there!
Do you see AI starting to write more and more code and humans to be much more hands off or is the tech not there yet?
I see AI assisting humans with writing code more and more. I see AI less as replacing software engineers, but more as creating jobs that don't exist yet. Prompt engineers are just one example. AI will make more people "code" who never would have coded leading to "commodification of software" than replacing existing devs. That's my prediction.

Wow, thatโ€™s cool about the timing attack!

Thanks for the insight! I just got out of a briefing with the Department of Commerce talking about their AI priorities (NIST falls under their purview). We hear a lot on The Hill about how AI is already replacing tech workers, especially in areas of coding so I was interested in your outside opinion!

I'm setting up a matrix server for SN developer chat. The Matrix team has made it really hard to run Synapse in a serverless environment (no env config).

I am currently working on improving my VO2 max in preparation for the upcoming football (soccer) season. I've been playing around with the Norwegian 4x4 protocol for the past 3 weeks or so now and although extremely brutal in the moment, have been feeling much more fit than before. And my HR has gradually gone down when engaging in football training and games. Still early days, but something I have incorporated into my overall training regimen and have already begun to observe benefits.

Oh man, I have an interesting project for this week. I have to find the right paper at an art store, but I will make my very own traditional Japanese bound notebook using very thin paper. We will see how my needlework and measuring prowess are by the edges of the pages at the end of my project. I will try to show some pictures after it is done.
