It's striking now, when I browse around job websites, how many jobs I'm noticing in my IT specialty that require some kind of clearance, like Secret or Top Secret.
Which means that they're all government jobs, related to national security. Mostly they're for corporations, but I'm assuming they have contracts with the military.
It wasn't like this until recently. It may have started in the past couple years, but now it's really striking. It feels like as many as 30 to 50% of these jobs appear to be government related.
Govt is way behind in cybersecurity.

Yeah, but their pension plans never go bankrupt. Might be something to look into.

Hard no on that, they're evil.
Also, I don't think their pension plans are going to do well once serious inflation begins. If they raise pensions with inflation, they have to admit that inflation is really bad, and they won't want to do that.
In the post World War I hyperinflation, in Germany, retired civil servant's often had ridiculously low pensions once inflation really kicked in.
