I was really excited about zed at first. After all I've been orbiting around tooling written in rust for a while now and there are some interesting developments for what concerns GUI software and libraries (check out https://areweguiyet.com/ ). The thing that I found icky about Zed is to go Mac first for the implementation. It's of course a business decision and I understand that they are targeting enterprise development as this is the one that pays the most. But what I find absurd is that they are asking people to fix their problems with their linux versions when they clearly don't care about linux users.
They made a clear choice to support first an os that antagonizes open source (the reason why it is so complicated to develop cross platform gui apps is in part due to Apple reluctance of adopting Vulkan low level graphic API in favor of their proprietary software) and now they want to take the high road. No thanks.
