Coz of recent simping towards Trump saying he will support crypto, I come back to an old observation I made. Maybe I am completely wrong, as an outsider.
Why is there such a divide in US politics regarding crypto? How has this seemingly become just another thing of the US culture war?
It seems like yet again, people lumping bitcoin and crypto together, both on the left and right, is again damaging Bitcoin as it always does.
The majority of people on the left (not talking politicians), rightfully so, observe that crypto is just pump and dumps, scams, etc. And incentivized by virtue signaling, they act on that observation and thus prefer to dismiss crypto.
Many people on the right, not incentivized by such virtue signaling, see it as a way to make money. Either through pump and dumps, or NGU, doesn't matter.
As for the politicians, they cater to what they think will give them the most votes. With the additional observation that the current administration is leveraging that scammy crypto image to protect the dollar, the government's oversight, international AML and KYC regulations, etc... The one that actually causes any threat to these is BTC. Even though, BTC if done properly (no FTX, etc), is not a pump and dump, not a scam.
And I guess that if the conservatives regain power, it'll be the same.
For people living in the US, do you have any more factual input as to why it is such a polarizing topic?
