Hi SN!
The world has seen a lot of inventions in the last 200 years or so. All of these inventions have definitely brought along so much ease to the world. Some may be dangerous yet useful like electricity. Some can even lead to a total annihilation like the Nukes!
So, for one more time, let's just eliminate one invention from from present, past or future.

What an odd set of options. I'll choose "Heated Swimming Pools", because that is by far the least consequential.

An advanced society with swimming pools, yet somehow the idea of heating a swimming pool has never occurred to anyone, should be a SCP.
reply
What's SCP? The website looks insane.
I wonder if we also, by inference, would not have the technology to boil food. Would this be a world without soup?
reply
Well... One way to write the SCP would be to introduce a bunch of cannibals who discovered heated swimming pools while attempting to cook someone alive.

We have unveiled the deep state

It's easy pickings 'Gunpowder'.
reply
Lol! Why? If you're making this choice because you assume that Gunpowder is the reason for many murders, suicides and wars, what about gunpowder saving your life! Isn't it something that is more capable of self defense than swords and arrows! Also, swords and arrows were killing more people in the past than Gunpowder is killing these days. So, If you choose gunpowder only on account of looking at the negative side of it, please look into the positive effects of gunpowder as well!
reply
Thanks! After reading your comment I feel like I may be wrong in my view about gunpowder. Also, I never thought and knew that gunpowder can be used as a life saving medicine. Thank you so much for enlightening my mind!

I wouldn't eliminate anything. If something is useful and I somehow magically eliminated it it would be reinvented.
Nukes exist because we know nuclear physics (a good thing) and because of the prisoner's dilemma.
reply
All of these you mentioned have a pretty big influence on humanities progress until today.
Would I eliminate gunpowder from today or from the past point when it was invented? Makes a big difference.

Internet!

Life was smooth before the invention of internet.

I would go with Bicycles. I mean we can directly jump onto motorbikes!😜

I don’t think eliminating gun powder eliminates human propensity for violence so heated swimming pools it is.

I would say that it would eliminate vices... like, for example, cigarettes 🚬... that's not to mention so many other products or evils that human beings know is killing them but they still continue to consume it... I think that human beings throughout His story has looked for a way to kill himself slowly... I once met a person from Iran. At that time, he was 18 years old and he smoked too much. In my native country, Venezuela, they sold some called Malboro that were super strong and he put one out and with the same "He lit the other cigarette... and when you asked him why he smoked so much, he simply answered that in life we are here to make money... to leave offspring... and die from some illness at a young age... I have suffered a lot to be getting old."
