I came up with this conspiracy theory all by myself - what do you all think?
Temu is an online shop that has really low prices (kind of like a dollar store online), and free shipping if you order more than 15 USD (formerly 10 USD).
It's like a mix of dollar store and Walmart quality items. And sometimes higher quality items. I've been buying things from Temu for about 3 years, and it's a blast. The items aren't necessarily the greatest quality, but it's mostly good enough, and there's an insane amount of variety. Also, every time I've made a complaint, they give a refund without me needing to even return it. So, I'm a satisfied customer.
At the beginning, nobody knew about Temu, but in the past 6 months or so, it's really taken off, and people have either tried it, or at least know about it. And recently, with people trying to save money, it's really, really taking off.
So, naturally it's hit by a lawsuit...by the attorney general of Arkansas.
There is NO doubt in my mind that the Arkansas connection is because of Walmart, headquartered in Arkansas. Walmart is seeing inroads made on their business by a lower-cost competitor. And they're fighting back, in the court system. I really doubt there's anything of substance in the accusations.
One thing to consider regarding Chinese goods. No Agenda covers this in some previous episodes. When companies request Chinese manufacturing sometimes the business in China will agree to do a run of items say, 20,000 and the order is fulfilled but the company may produce another 20,000 if they think the product has legs for the market. This would be how one might get cheap stuff at insane prices because the manufacturer has already charged the client for the factory operation!!! That means raw materials, too!
Now what is funny about this they never jack up the price because it is all profit.
My take on this is that American manufacturers want to save money in labor and the factory wants to save money in profit. Both parties may even know about this.
So, if we insist on buying cheap crap there will be a market for this.
Walmart may be suing because they products they agreed to pay for in bulk are cheaper via retail and they want a piece of the action. Arkansas doesn't have the Clinton Cocaine Cartel so they need a different line of money.
