As the European Union navigates through its current economic struggles, its political maneuvers become increasingly laughable. The EU’s threats towards the potential re-election of Donald Trump are nothing short of embarrassing. With Europe in a severe recession, a dysfunctional currency system, and a self-inflicted energy crisis exacerbated by failed sanctions against Russia, their attempts to confront the U.S. seem futile. Meanwhile, America benefits from capital fleeing the Eurozone and reindustrialization at Europe's expense, a trend that's unlikely to reverse under Brussels’ green socialist agenda.
According to the Financial Times, the EU is planning a carrot-and-stick approach if Trump wins the presidency. They aim to offer him a quick deal in exchange for dropping tariffs, or retaliatory measures if he proceeds with them. EU representatives plan to engage with Trump's team before his potential inauguration, discussing increased purchases of U.S. products.
The EU's strategy reeks of desperation and detachment from reality, showcasing their inability to address their own economic failures while pretending to challenge the U.S.
Not looking good for china as well. But you're right the EU seems desperate currently. They can pretend but even if they involve UK, they can't compete with US. Thet have even gone below China once. They are clearly not looking at the right things now.

Its surprising to see that UK GDP is doing much better that EU countries? What's the difference?
reply
firstly, they do not have the failed currency as ballast. secondly, the eurozone is a gigantic bureaucratic juggernaut that cannot be compared with England's. thirdly, they are pursuing their own trade and foreign policy, which is proving to be much more effective and successful than what the Europeans are spinning together in Brussels.
reply
Wow, they sound very desperate. If you give him something he wants, he will easily trade. He is a business man, as long as the deal is good for him, he will accept. It doesnt mean the deal has to be bad for the EU, either.

the European Union's string of tragic mistakes, from the escalating trade war with China to the Russia sanctions and its involvement in the Ukraine war, shows me that it has lost any overview of its own possibilities. the EU is in decline and politically in panic mode

Once they figure that out, they can right themselves. Its just a matter of time before people find out that the politicians are causing stupid problems. Then the younger generation might get off tiktok and solve some of the issues.

retaliatory measures if he proceeds with them
Oh no! You mean we'll have to get by with Japanese cars and Argentinian wine?
I'm as pro free trade as anyone, but it's ridiculous if EU bureaucrats actually think they have the stronger negotiating position.

I wonder how many years it will take for the European Union to fall apart? In all likelihood, it is inevitable.
reply
It will grind down slowly. Institutions won't disappear fast but lose their influence
