So I have been married for ten years. What can mark the passage of this time? I realise it’s not difficult to come up with an answer. Throughout the seasons of our lives, my wife has always insisted on cooking. Usually, I don’t notice the mastery of her culinary skills. However, because I armed myself with the mindset of locating all her cooking photos on my phone today, I realised that her cooking has grown from strength to strength during this decade. She likes to experiment with new recipes, and I think the repertoire of her dishes is clearly evident in these photos. Don’t salivate as you view them!

Food looks fantastic. Is she Japanese or food just inspired by your years there? (no need to doxx if not needed)
Since I only eat one meal a day (OMAD), I've been embracing 懐石 (kaiseki) -- the art of arranging food. It's just so fantastic to go to a Japanese restaurant and have a moderate amount of food -- but very satiating.
This one is from last year's New Year celebration. Arrangement by my wife.

This one is by me for my OMAD. Not as professional as the wifu:

Has a Japanese wife.
Lol just read that on your bio. My bad, how dare me not read your bio.
BTW all these time I thought your user name was cryPtosensei!
Is the cryoto is a portmanteau of crypto and kyoto?
I made the same mistake: crypto sensei
Nothing so creative. Cryptosensei was taken when I registered myself on Reddit, so cryotosensei was the next best thing haha
Amazing!
Do you WFH? I can’t imagine how you can have OMAD if you need to go to an office and are subjected to external stimulus n stress factors.
Was this OMAD instrumental in helping you get back into shape? 😉
I WFH yes.
Currently happily unemployed after I was fired from one contract and fired the other contractors for a few months.
OMAD was absolutely crucial but the most important was to remove sugars and starchy carbs. I cut them cold turkey. I think I'll make an AMA tonight about it.
Awesome.
Size 28 is madness! It was my size when I was a senior high school student!
Waist size?
Metric system?
Yes waist size.
How is it done in the US?
inches but we don't use metric system
for instance, what is your shoe size? 10 or 45?
I have small feet haha
Thanks! I haven't been size 28 in 7 or 8 years, before my son was born.
I wish my wife had such culinary skills! 😜
Maybe she makes the best tea 🫖
Not really!
The onus of making good tea is often times upon me in my family.
How many cups of tea do you drink per day?
4 to 5 cups now a days. In winters, this increases upto 10 sometimes.
Unfortunately I did a rugpull on the household cooking. I learned to cook young while camping and in the Boy Scouts. I was the better cook in the marriage so I did more of the fancier meals (supper in the US).
Since switching to carnivore, my meal prep/cooking has gone from an hour or more a day to about 10 minutes…
Rest of the fam has to live off the wife’s cooking now
My wife and I want to switch to carnivore. Any tips to making it work?
With yourself? Just try it for 30 days and see. DYOR!
If your wife wants to…easy.
After 30 days I felt better than I did as a young man, higher drive at everything. Clear thinking….it sounds like baloney, I know, so just see for yourself
My staples are whole ribeyes that I cut to about 2” thick, good ground beef, venison. About 1.5 to 2lbs of red meat per day, 4 oz of liver. (I weigh 150 lbs). Sometimes bone broth, eggs, cheese. Liver is best rare, biggest mistake is overcooking it, but I’ve eaten it raw as well (deer liver anyway, not grocery store).
High fat is key. Get fatty cuts at least 80/20 ground beef and eat all fat on the ribeye. About 60-70% calories from fat, the rest protein. You can get by on 1 meal a day, and even skip a day with no hunger. Been carnivore almost 3 years.
This is fascinating. When do you usually have your meal then?
If I have to work afternoon I will eat about 9-10am, if I work morning I will eat around 4pm.
If I don’t have to work sometimes I’ll have a morning and evening meal. I never bring lunch to work, if I’ve had enough fat I will not feel hungry all day. I will start to feel hungry after the 30-35 hr mark if I’ve skipped a day (not on purpose, just out somewhere where I don’t have red meat available.)
Before carnivore I just thought I had a high metabolism, constantly snacking or I felt hungry. I couldn’t function without eating all day long. Carnivore really frees up your time and lets you focus on doing fun stuff instead of worrying about food constantly.
A slice of cheese on the pasta....that is such a japanese thing!
Very unItalian haha
Very Japanese.
Your wife will understand what I mean.
She cooks simply but healthy.
Very good!
I will let her know she has a fan haha
"cheese"
Feasting like a king!
lol. it’s just humble fare. but warms my heart
Wonderful!
Thanks 🤩
🤤🤤🤤
I love a runny egg on almost everything.
In Japan, I don’t mind just having a raw egg mixed with rice for breakfast because the egg is just so fresh
I added a fried egg to rice just a few mornings ago. simple and delicious.
Looks delicious. My wife went to culinary school. She is a great cook. I can hold my own though.
What’s her signature dish?
Love the chopsticks.
Thank you for noticing. Me too!
all of this food is very delicious, this menu is definitely different every day, you are grateful to have a wife who is good at cooking delicious food.
Yes, I’m lucky
