It’s unfortunate but my five-year-old son doesn’t like to read. He enjoys having his mum read aloud to him, but when left to his own volition, he will rather play with his toys or watch TV or jump into ball pits or do jigsaw puzzles. Basically, anything but reading.
Well, I thought about the advantages of reading. It’s to help kids immerse in a world beyond their own and stimulate their imagination, right? Why not I get him to create his own stories?
So, knowing that his obsession these days is penguins, I interviewed him about his animal of the moment. Based on his responses, I pulled this story out of his consciousness.
Subsequently, it was a simple case of typing the story on Wondercraft AI.
He decided on a female AI voice, so I clicked on Producetrack. Within minutes, our story was turned into a podcast. You can even download it here if you want to: https://www.wondercraft.ai/e/I48DVMcV
Ta da! My son the reluctant reader co-wrote his first story with yours truly. He listened to the podcast three times, so that bodes well for a start. I will get creative with my expectations - listening to an audio book beats watching mind-numbing YouTube shorts anytime!
